Airfares to and from Korea
Your employer will pay the cost of an economy class one-way flight ticket to Korea from the international airport that is nearest to your home. This will either be paid for prior to you arriving in Korea or reimbursed to you, usually within 2-3 weeks of arriving. Sometimes it is extremely difficult to predict the actual flight date time for your departure to Korea because of the visa issuance process and the speed of document deliveries, holiday periods etc.

We will be able to personally organize things by email or phone wherever you are located.
Many employers do not offer to pay flights in advance and instead guarantee to reimburse you after you arrive.
In our experience every teacher we have sent to Korea over a 4-year period has been correctly reimbursed the cost of his or her airfare as per contract conditions.

It is important that prior to departure you must have the ability to fund the ticket yourself and that you do not at a late stage, attempt to threaten to cancel your employment in order to gain payment of this ticket, or give the school an ultimatum to pay for your ticket for you before you leave. Any action like this is seen as similar to blackmail if the employer has already processed your visa documents.

Wherever you are located in the world we will always try to eliminate as much stress as possible regarding your travel arrangements, by tracking your document deliveries, monitoring the timing of your visa documents and implementing ticket changes as required.

The cost and availability of tickets in the peak travel seasons season is very difficult for all parties to understand, let alone cope with. Costs can often be 25-50% higher and tickets hard to get during peak times. Also, airlines often require tickets to be paid more than 2 weeks in advance. During these 'peak' months please be as flexible as possible and don't ask the travel agent to send you via Sydney, Hong Kong or London etc. just because you want to catch up on old friends on the way. Your employer will just be hoping you arrive as promptly as possible around the expected date so please DON'T present a demanding flight request to any agent.
We do not usually recommend anyone fly as a tourist unless the job is 100% confirmed and documents are actually being processed in Korea. In approximately 90% of contracts your employer will provide you with a return ticket.

A visa cannot be activated from within Korea. This should be done as soon as possible after you arrive as it is illegal to be teaching at your school before this final process is completed.
