The Teaching Hierarchy
|
The Management Structure of the School
|
The owner of the school will be called the President (male of female) and they are your official visa sponsors. In some schools you might not see this person often as they will be at other locations or may operate other businesses.
There will be an Academic Director who will 90% of the time be a Korean person with good English skills. The Academic director is whom you generally work with daily. The foreign teachers are usually requested to follow the Academic Directors instructions. If you have a serious issue it may be a good idea to request a meeting with the owner/president and put your request in writing as there is no guarantee that the owner will know about your issue because the director will be sheltering him from bad news (A common Korean practice). Don?t ever assume your message has got to the source it is intended.
There will be 2 different levels of Korean teaching staff.
- The graduate English teachers who have perhaps lived in the USA and have minimal to excellent fluency in English.
- The Korean teachers who have no English all, who will be most likely taking art and music classes and supervising other activities for the children.
